People in authority have feared the power of books throughout history. It’s sad that so much human knowledge has been lost due to ignorance and fear. One of the most egregious cases that I can think of is Bishop Diego de Landa Calderón destroying the Maya codices in 1562 essentially wiping Mayan history and knowledge from the face of the earth. Diversity should be celebrated, not feared.
